Thanks Josh for sharing such a lovely story! 25 years ago I had the privilege of interviewing 40 self-identified happy lesbian and gay couples (20 of each) who had been together from 9-50 years for a book (Together Forever). No one spoke of a perfect relationship, but all spoke of how their committed relationship (this is pre-legal marriage) enriched their lives, and all spoke of the importance of seeking outside help with their relationship when a crisis or some other challenge threatened it. They also took great pride in achieving their happy relationships and celebrating them in a world where almost everyone said that such relationships couldn't possibly last. Mazel tov on your anniversary!
