Oh Crap. I spent about 45 minutes writing an email/comment about my experiences as a cardiac stress lab nurse and the new cohort of young patients showing up crossed with the wacky theories others are verbalizing-- and super intense chest pain usually while asleep. It got dumped when I had to walk out of the room and then pick up the computer again.... anyhow it is like the worst case scenario conspiracy theory fabulism crossed with some crazy scary chest pain/shortness of breath/tummy turbulence that no one can explain. I just keep pushing the prilosec. but honestly, their EKGs are all normal, their cardiac enzymes are negative...
Thank you for the link to Bryan Stryker focus group results. I especially appreciated this point: "They absolutely want their kids to hear the good and the bad of American history." I sent this quote (and the whole CRT section) to my conservative friend. I told him this was not true for quite a lot of conservatives and it should be.
I'd like to see how Josh deals with someone (Tom Nichols) who poo poos regular voters' concerns about inflation and covid restrictions as evidenced by the November 2021 election results and dire polling for Democrats given Josh's thoughtful suggestions to *actually* deal with voters' concerns. (I sent Josh an email asking about this as well) https://twitter.com/radiofreetom/status/1480929275259850757?s=11
Tom Nichols isn't making fun of the issues that inflation has created politically per se. He's pointing out that the die hard republican base that has embraced Trumpism isn't driven by "meat and potatoes" political issues like a lot of opinion pieces have been saying for the past 6 years. The anti-democratic bent of many (most) republicans isn't a bug it's a feature and the base encourages it not because they're downtrodden in life but because of many more intrinsic qualities of their voters. Additionally, Tom has made it clear that when he speaks of the anti-democratic elements and specifically Jan 6th rioters that they weren't actually working class people but were largely driven by a more affluent and bored middle class.
